Exceptions to Treatment
Electrolysis is safe and effective in the vast majority of cases, but several matters of safety and sanitation prohibit treatment. The most common are discussed below:
-
This includes active cold and flu! Anyone with an easily-transmissible disease cannot safely receive treatment without risking infecting others. If you feel you are ill, please call as soon as you are aware to reschedule your appointment!
-
Similar to other infectious diseases, anyone with lice or bedbugs is not allowed on the premises - please receive treatment before coming in. If you have discovered you have contracted either within a short time of receiving treatment, please provide notification so proper additional sanitation measures can be followed.
-
Electrolysis cannot be performed on or near exposed warts or fungal infections such as athletes foot or ringworm. If the affected area can be safely kept inside a shoe and it isn’t removed during treatment, you can still come in, however.
-
If you are experiencing any skin changes or lesions, please consult a physician first before scheduling electrolysis, to make sure it is not a contagious condition.
-
If it cannot be seen, or there isn’t sufficient room to maneuver the probe, then it cannot be treated. This includes deep inside ears or past the first several millimeters inside the nostril.
